How to begin HYROX and prepare for your first race
Starting HYROX does not require being an athlete, it just requires showing up with consistency and the right mindset.
To prepare effectively for your first race, the best approach is to combine three types of training every week:
- Cardio & Engine Work: sessions focused on improving endurance, breathing, and mental resilience. This includes running, rowing, SkiErg, and interval training.
- Strength Training: to build the power and control needed for sled push/pull, wall balls, lunges, and carries.
- Mobility & Recovery: to reduce injury risk and improve movement efficiency, especially for burpees, wall balls, and transitions.
We recommend training at least 3 times per week, mixing these formats for full-body development and consistent progress.
At A’Lab, every class is structured to support this balance, and our coaches guide you based on your level, whether it’s your first HYROX or your fifth.
